Geocaching
"using millions of dollars worth of satellites in space to find plastic boxes hidden in the undergrowth". . . go on, Google it. You know you want to.

Singin' in the rain
My family decided it would be a good idea to in outside in the torrential rain - I stayed inside and took the photo.

Oops!
Three and a half litres of thawed ice cream going down the drain - the result of someone accidentally leaving the freezer door open :-(

A lesson from history?
Today, Britian's 18 year olds get their exam results on which university entrance depends. There is a lot of talk in the media about a shortage of university places in the current economic climate.
Today's photo is of a hand coloured illustration from the magazine Punch, one of a number we purchased 15 years ago to grace our new home - I suppose the teaching theme is what attracted us to it.
It is from the 19th November 1887 edition and is entitled THE SCHOOLMASTER OF THE FUTURE (and the sooner we get him the better)
The caption has the workman saying to the teacher, "Bother your 'ologies & 'ometries, let ME teach him something useful"
...have you tried to hire a tradesman recently?

Street music
It seems that while I've been away from the office, a number of pianos have been abandoned about Belfast's city centre.
It seems anybody can just sit down & play.

Lisnabreeny
A great view across Belfast from the site (so I learned today) of an American wartime cemetary. All the bodies were re-interred after the war, either in the main cemetary in England, or back in the US.
And this no more than a mile or so from where I've lived all my life, and never knew about it.
The things you learn whilst geocaching.

Taste & Music Fest (part 2)
The problem is today's chef is yours truly & the music is a cheesy talent show on Channel 5.
Not quite up to yesterday's standard.

There's no sauce like hunger
A favourite saying of a good friend of mine, it applied to this pair at dinner time. A day in the fresh coast air, jobs around the house, playing at the park and a good long swim worked up a monster appetite. Clean plates all round.

Set up for the day
This poor guy was making use of a concrete bollard & litter bin as his table and chair for the day. He was sitting there, with a bottle of fortified wine & four cans of lager just watching the traffic go by.
Sad.
Sad.
